Groupe de garage rock né en 2001 à Seattle et basé sur Garnet Keim (chant, guitare), Snow Keim (basse) et Bob Husak (batterie), The Blakes se forge une expérience scénique dans les clubs de Los Angeles.

En 2005, le trio revient à Seattle et sort un premier maxi, Little Whispers.

Influencés par The Kinks et The Smiths, The Blakes livre un rock expérimental engagé et visionnaire, sous la houlette mystique du poète anglais William Blake, qui substitua au dogme et à la morale chrétienne une intuition prophétique de la poésie.

The Blakes a sorti un premier album éponyme en 2008 sur le label label Light in the Attic.
