Le Football Club Lorient-Bretagne Sud est un club de football français, fondé en 1926 à Lorient (Morbihan). Le club sort de l'amateurisme en 1970.
Christian Gourcuff , alors professeur de mathématiques et adèpte du "jeu à la nantaise", reprend l'équipe lorsqu'elle évolue en 3ème division en 1991 pour l'emmenée jusqu'en Ligue 1 en 1998. Il revient chez les Merlus en 2003 et obtient le meilleur classement du club en 2010 ( 7ème ). Il quitte Lorient en 2014 pour devenir sélectionneur de l'Algerie. Le club est dirigé par Loïc Fery depuis 2009 et joue au Stade Yves Allainmat plus connu sous le nom Stade du Moustoir.
L'actuel entraineur n'est autre que l'ancien adjoint de Christian Gourcuff, Sylvain Ripoli.
